1 – Biden to sign executive orders on immigration, including family reunification
NBC News reports: President Joe Biden will sign three major executive orders Tuesday aimed at reversing President Donald Trump’s hard-line immigration practices, senior administration officials said.

One executive order will create a task force to reunite children who were separated from their parents under Trump’s “zero tolerance” policy, which an administration official called a “moral failing.” The task force will be chaired by the homeland security secretary.

The executive action does not address whether parents who have been deported will be given special protections to come back to the United States to reunite with their children.

The officials said the second executive action would evaluate legal immigration programs, such as the Central American Minors Program, which began under President Barack Obama. That program allowed certain children from the region to lawfully unite with family members in the U.S.; Trump terminated it in 2017, which the administration official said left thousands in limbo.

The order would also review the Trump administration’s “Remain in Mexico” policy, which has left tens of thousands of asylum-seekers, most of them Central American, living in poor conditions in northern Mexico as they await court hearings to make their cases for protection in the U.S.

The third executive action will direct the State Department, the Justice Department and the Department of Homeland Security to review guidelines and policies implemented under Trump to determine whether they are in line with the government’s desire to promote “integration and inclusion.”

DML: Here it comes, folks. I said this was going to happen!

2 – House Dems seek to sneak pathway to citizenship for illegals into covid relief bill
About 100 House Democrats sent a letter to House Speaker Nancy Pelosi (D-CA) over the weekend, urging her to include an amnesty provision for certain subgroups of illegal aliens in the next coronavirus relief package.

Led by the Congressional Hispanic Caucus, the group of Democrats want to include amnesty for at least five million illegal aliens who are considered as “essential workers” and who are recipients of Temporary Protected Status (TPS) and the Deferred Action for Childhood Arrivals (DACA) programs.

In an online video conference last week, progressive Democrat Rep. Pramila Jayapal touted the plan, explaining all the perks they wanted to provide to immigrants by wrapping it all up into their Covid relief bill.

“Any covid relief package that passes MUST include immigrants,” Jayapal declared. “Immigrant access to testing, treatment, vaccine… but it also means immigrant inclusion in the financial relief,” she said, indicating they would get the stimulus payments as well.

Jayapal then admitted that the ultimate goal is to include a pathway to citizenship into the whole package.

DML: I’ll be discussing this today!

3 – Zuckerberg, top Facebook execs admit they have ‘too much power,’ want to help Biden agenda, leaked video shows
Fox News reports: Newly-released video footage features Facebook founder and CEO Mark Zuckerberg and other executives admitting they have “too much power” while expressing eagerness to work with the Biden administration.

The right-wing guerrilla news outlet Project Veritas obtained recorded virtual conference calls from a Facebook “insider” that appear to shed light on how much influence the tech giant will have under the Biden presidency.

“In his first day, President Biden has already issued a number of executive orders on areas that we as a company really care quite deeply about,” Zuckerberg says in a compilation video of his recorded remarks from Jan. 21. “I think that these were all important and positive steps, and I am looking forward to opportunities where Facebook is going to be able to work together with this new administration on some of their top priorities, starting with the COVID response.”

Former U.K. Deputy Prime Minister Nick Clegg, Facebook’s vice president of global affairs, is heard acknowledging world leaders who have spoken out against the company’s decision to ban former President Donald Trump’s account following the Jan. 6 Capitol Hill riot. According to Clegg, Facebook’s critics say that “this shows that private companies have got too much power and they should be only making these decisions in a way that is framed by democratically agreed rules.”

DML: Well, well, well…

4 – Whoopi Goldberg: Joe Manchin Criticism of Kamala Harris Sounds ‘Bigoted’ — ‘Really Disrespectful’
Breitbart reports: Whoopi Goldberg told her co-hosts on Monday’s broadcast of ABC’s “The View” that Sen. Joe Manchin’s (D-WV) criticism of Vice President Kamala Harris for appearing on a local TV station in West Virginia to gain support for the Biden administration’s $1.9 trillion coronavirus relief package sounded “bigoted.”

Goldberg said, “Vice President Kamala Harris did an interview with the local West Virginia TV station to make the pitch for the new COVID stimulus package, and moderate Democrat Senator Joe Manchin was not happy he didn’t get a heads-up about it. Take a look.”

In an interview that also aired on local West Virginia television, Manchin said, “I saw it. I couldn’t believe it. No one called me. We’re going to try to find a bipartisan pathway for it. I think we need to, but we need to work together. That’s not a way of working together, what was done.”

Goldberg said, “OK, so let me just point this out, Joe, she is the vice president. She does not work for you. She doesn’t need your permission to go do this. When you talk like that, it sounds a little bigoted, like you think you have the right to tell her when she can and cannot come someplace.”

DML: Manchin said he will stand up to Dems – so Kamala goes campaigning in his district!

5 – Crime is skyrocketing in Chicago at alarming levels.
Fox News reports:

201 shootings in the month of January 2021 – compared to 137 in Jan. 2020
51 homicides in January (the highest one-month period in 4 years) – compared to 35 homicides in Jan. 2020.
10 officers shot in January 2021 – compared to 4 officers shot in Jan. 2020
769 total homicides for the year 2020 – a 55% increase from 2019
Another Fox News report reveals Chicago carjackings more than double in January, up 180% over last year; police say most offenders are teens

218 carjackings in January 2021 – compared to 77 in January 2020.
1,415 carjackings for the entire year in 2020 – a 135% increase from 2019
Police believe most of the offenses are being committed by young adults and teenagers, some of whom are currently out of school due to the coronavirus pandemic. Officials said CPD arrest data show carjackers are most often between the ages of 15 and 20, but arrest records show they are sometimes even younger.

“We’re having 12-year-olds commit these acts now,” Chief of Detectives Brendan Deenihan said, “and we gotta do something together as a city to stop these actions.”
