Big news on JCPA bill, NFL game chant, Fauci admission, and more….
By Anneta Griffee

Today is December 7. Below are some of the stories grabbing headlines this morning. I hope you share this briefing as doing so will make you the smartest person in the room.

1 – Severe Blowback on Effort to Include Media Cartel Bill JCPA in Defense Bill Forces Congressional Leaders to Remove from Bill
Breitbart reports: Congressional leaders stripped from the annual defense package a controversial proposal that would have allowed media organizations to create cartels to collectively bargain with Big Tech companies, text of the National Defense Authorization Act (NDAA) released on Tuesday evening shows.

The revelation that the Journalism Competition and Preservation Act (JCPA) has been stripped from the text of the NDAA after congressional leaders had agreed to include it just days ago is a massive development that comes after congressional leaders were caught off guard by the swift and severe blowback to the effort, Breitbart News has learned.

The removal of the proposal is a massive win for conservatives after sweeping criticism from across the political spectrum came in in the wake of reports that Senate GOP leader Mitch McConnell had caved to Democrats on this, but particularly criticism among Republicans, who were shocked leaders had agreed to include the Journalism Competition and Preservation Act (JCPA) in the National Defense Authorization Act (NDAA).

Several GOP senators joined in the chorus of critics in public and in private, ripping the push to shred and delay the release of the NDAA’s final text by more than a full day and throwing the final weeks of this lame duck Congress into disarray.

ANNETA G: Throw that bill in the GARBAGE!

2 – Schumer open to reforming tech liability protections amid rising hate speech on Twitter
The Hill reports: Senate Majority Leader Charles Schumer (D-N.Y.) told reporters Tuesday that he is open to revising Section 230 of the Communications Decency Act in response to rising hate speech on Twitter directed at Black and Jewish Americans.

Section 230 grants social media platforms such as Twitter protection from legal liability for offensive, wrongful or damaging content posted on their sites.

Schumer said he is open to revisiting that legal protection in the wake of new reports by the Center for Countering Digital Hate and the Anti-Defamation League that found hate speech on Twitter has grown significantly since entrepreneur Elon Musk bought the company for $44 billion.

“I’ve always said that Section 230 is something that we should look at that. The difficulty there is coming up with the right solution, but it’s something I’d be open to looking at,” he told reporters after the Democratic caucus lunch.

The Center for Countering Digital Hate found that daily use of the N-word on Twitter has tripled since Musk took control of the company. Slurs directed at gay men and transgender people have also gone up dramatically on Twitter under Musk’s leadership, the group found.

ANNETA G: Well, I personally have NOT seen any rise in “hate speech” on Twitter.  Good grief, maybe all those woke people should just bundle themselves up on bubble wrap.

3 – Part Of Crowd At Tampa Bay Buccaneers Game Erupts Into ‘F**k Joe Biden’ Chants
The Daily Caller reports: There’s nowhere in the world quite like the great state of Florida.

After the Buccaneers staged an awesome fourth quarter comeback Monday to knock off the New Orleans Saints, a portion of the crowd began chanting “fuck Joe Biden” in unison at the top of their lungs.

Ever since President Joe Biden took office, FBJ chants have swept the nation, symbolizing how displeased some Americans are with the 46th POTUS.

ANNETA G: I guess these people aren’t part of the 81 million who voted for Biden!

4 – College degree value plummets as woke insanity spikes
Fox News reports: For decades, parents have sacrificed and students have gone into debt to fund college degrees that lead nowhere. But the college scam may be up soon — not thanks to any moral awakening on the part of college administrators.

Instead, a tight job market is motivating more employers, including Google, IBM and some state governments, to scrap degree requirements and open up jobs to non-degree-holders. Elon Musk, who decided “college is basically for fun,” has for years evaluated applicants at Tesla based on skills, not a diploma.

This trend should make college consumers skeptical about blindly forking over a fortune. For too long, Americans have been buying the idea that a degree in something, anything, is necessary to launch a career and join the middle class.

All the while, colleges have been raising tuition mercilessly, pushing families to take on more debt to cover the hikes.

ANNETA G: Send your kids to a tech school and help them learn how to really DO something instead of wasting money on a useless college degree.

5 – Fauci Says He Dismissed Lab Leak Theory to Placate China
The Washington Free Beacon reports: In the early days of the pandemic, Dr. Anthony Fauci often dismissed the theory that the coronavirus came from a biological lab in China. He testified last week his reluctance was out of fear that speculation about the virus origins would “increase tensions” with China.

Fauci’s comments came during a seven-hour deposition at the center of a lawsuit filed by the attorneys general of Missouri and Louisiana against the Biden administration. Fauci stated throughout the deposition that he was troubled by “wild speculation and allegations” that the Chinese government either deliberately or accidentally leaked the virus from a biological lab in Wuhan. He also said he was “afraid” that “blaming the Chinese” for the outbreak would “increase tensions and reduce cooperation” with Beijing to prevent future pandemics.

“There was no evidence of that at the time, and that’s what I was concerned about,” said Fauci, the director of the National Institute of Allergy and Infectious Diseases.

Fauci’s reluctance to entertain the lab leak hypothesis may have slowed the United States government’s efforts to investigate the origins of the pandemic. A growing body of evidence points to a lab leak as the most likely explanation for the outbreak. Republicans on the Senate Intelligence Committee released a report in October that said an accidental leak from the Wuhan lab was the “most likely” cause of the pandemic.

Fauci has come under scrutiny for not only dismissing the lab leak theory, but also because the National Institutes for Allergy and Infectious Diseases has funded research at the Wuhan Institute of Virology.

ANNETA G:  Well, well, well….  but the infuriating thing is, you know there will never be any charges filed against this guy.
