DML Morning Briefing June 29

By  Dennis Michael Lynch

Today is June 29. Below are some of the stories grabbing headlines this morning. I hope you share this briefing as doing so will make you the smartest person in the room.

1.Secret Service agents willing to testify that Trump didn’t lunge at steering wheel during Capitol riot
Fox News – Two Secret Service agents are prepared to testify before Congress that then-President Trump did not lunge at a steering wheel or assault them in an attempt to go to the Capitol during the Jan. 6 riot, a source close to the Secret Service tells Fox News.

The explosive new allegations were made on Tuesday by Cassidy Hutchinson, a former top aide to Trump White House Chief of Staff Mark Meadows.

White House Counsel Pat Cipollone repeatedly warned staff in the days before the rally that “we’re going to get charged with every crime imaginable” if Trump goes to the Capitol, Hutchinson testified.

Following Trump’s speech at the Ellipse, he got into the presidential SUV under the impression that he was going to the Capitol, then had a “very strong, very angry response” when the head of his Secret Service detail, Bobby Engel, said that they were going to the White House.

“The president said something to the effect of, ‘I’m the f’ing president. Take me up to the Capitol now,” Hutchinson testified, relaying what she was told later that day by another White House aide, Tony Ornato.

DML: The steering wheel bit, it is so far out there, it is so not Trump… I simply don’t buy it.  And so the rest of her testimony becomes unusable.

2.Pelosi receives Communion in Vatican despite abortion stance
AP -U.S. House Speaker Nancy Pelosi met with Pope Francis on Wednesday and received Communion during a papal Mass in St. Peter’s Basilica, witnesses said, despite her position in support of abortion rights.

Pelosi attended the morning Mass marking the feasts of St. Peter and St. Paul, during which Francis bestowed the woolen pallium stole on newly consecrated archbishops. She was seated in a VIP diplomatic section and received Communion along with the rest of the congregants, according to two people who witnessed the moment.

Pelosi’s home archbishop, San Francisco Archbishop Salvatore Cordileone, has said he will no longer allow her to receive the sacrament in his archdiocese because of her support for abortion rights. Cordileone, a conservative, has said Pelosi must either repudiate her support for abortion or stop speaking publicly of her Catholic faith.

DML: It is appalling to see her talk about God and claim to be Catholic when she stands for killing the unborn.  We all know she’s leader of the Satan Party, aka the Democrat Party.

3.Sweden, Finland on course to join NATO
Reuters -Sweden and Finland on Wednesday looked set for fast-track membership of NATO after Turkey lifted a veto on them joining, at a summit where the U.S.-led alliance is due to adopt a broad strategy focused on Russian and China for the next decade.

After talks in Madrid, Turkish President Tayyip Erdogan on Tuesday agreed with his Finnish and Swedish counterparts a series of security measures to allow the two Nordic countries to progress in their bid to join the U.S.-led alliance.

DML: Another two countries we now have to defend and pay for, meaning your taxes will go to pay for other countries.  Meanwhile, are you struggling to fill your tank.  Most people are.  The good news is there’s still a huge BOGO going on at DMLcbd.com.  🙂

4.Tuesday’s primary results show strength for Trump
DML NEWS APP Exclusive: Rep. Lauren Boebert, R-Colorado, won her primary victory over state Sen. Don Coram Tuesday.

New York Gov. Kathy Hochul also notched a primary win, the liberal loudmouth will face  huge Trump ally Rep. Lee Zeldin (R-NY) who beat out Rudy Guilani’s son for the GOP nomination.

A Trump-backed farmer scored a GOP nod for Illinois governor and a pro-choice Republican will move on as the party’s nominee for a Colorado Senate seat.

In Utah, GOP incumbent Sen. Mike Lee, one of former President Trump’s close allies, successfully fend off attacks, according to AP projections, from two challengers about his ties to the former president in the moderate right-leaning state.

DML: Whether you prefer Trump or DeSantis for 2024,  we all seem to agree on MAGA.

5.New COVID Wave Is Starting, With the ‘Worst Version’ of Omicron
A new COVID wave appears to be starting in New York City, fueled by the strongest subvariant of the omicron strain of coronavirus to date, one of the city’s top epidemiologists said Tuesday.

The BA.5 subvariant, first seen in South Africa and then Portugal, is considered by some experts to be the “worst version” of omicron seen yet, given its apparent capacity to escape prior immunity and transmit more readily.

Dr. Jay Varma, a Weill Cornell epidemiologist and formerly then-mayor Bill de Blasio’s top public health advisor during the pandemic, said infections appear to have stabilized at a high level in the city, rather than dropping.

“The decline of reported #COVID19 cases in NYC has stopped. Reported cases are at a high plateau, which means actual transmission is very high when you account for the >20x under-counting. This is likely the beginning of a BA.5 wave,” Varma tweeted.

DML: Just in time for the election.  With that snide remark out of the way, there has never been a more important time to boost the immune system.
