Today is June 23. Below are some of the stories grabbing headlines this morning. I hope you share this briefing as doing so will make you the smartest person in the room.

1. Trump responds to DeSantis leading in New Hampshire poll for 2024
DML NEWS APP Exclusive – Former President Donald Trump has responded after poll results released on Wednesday indicated that Florida Gov. Ron DeSantis is polling ahead of him in the state of New Hampshire.

The survey released by the University of New Hampshire Survey Center showed 39% of likely Republican primary voters in New Hampshire would support DeSantis, compared to 37% backing Trump.

Via his Truth Social platform, on Wednesday evening Trump shared the results from Zogby Analytics, which was an online survey taken by 408 likely GOP primary voters from May 23-24.

In that survey, Trump is leading with 54%, compared to DeSantis at 12%.

Trump did not release any statement in posting the poll.

DML: I will address this at length today on The Dennis Michael Lynch Podcast.

2.1/6 panel to hear of Trump’s pressure on Justice Department
WASHINGTON (AP) — The Jan. 6 committee will hear from former Justice Department officials who faced down a relentless pressure campaign from Donald Trump over the 2020 presidential election results while suppressing a bizarre challenge from within their own ranks.

The hearing Thursday will bring attention to a memorably turbulent stretch at the department as Trump in his final days in office sought to bend to his will a law enforcement agency that has long cherished its independence from the White House. The testimony is aimed at showing how Trump not only relied on outside advisers to press his false claims of election fraud but also tried to leverage the powers of federal executive branch agencies.

The witnesses will include Jeffrey Rosen, who was acting attorney general during the Jan. 6, 2021, assault on the U.S. Capitol. Three days earlier, Rosen was part of a tense Oval Office showdown in which Trump contemplated replacing him with a lower-level official, Jeffrey Clark, who wanted to champion Trump’s bogus election fraud claims.

DML: The AP, just like every news outlet, continues to use the term “false claims” when referring to Trump’s position that fraud played a role in the 2020 election.  This term “false claim” is nothing but a complete lie from the media.  There has been NO thorough audit or investigation into the 2020 results.  Just because elitists in the DC circle say there was no fraud doesn’t make it true, and just because judges say there is not ample evidence doesn’t make it true.  Our justice system is upside down, nobody trusts it anymore.  If a real forensic audit was done from A to Z, and if it was done with honesty, bipartisanship, and the sort of murder mystery investigation we see in high profile cases, I would bet my life on there being widespread fraud discovered.

3.U.S. oil refiners to meet Biden officials in high-stakes price talks
(Reuters) – Major U.S. oil refiners will meet with U.S. Energy Secretary Jennifer Granholm and other Biden officials on Thursday in an emergency meeting about how to lower record-high fuel prices that are squeezing American consumers.

The two sides are meeting with a promise to work together in good faith, but they appear far apart on solutions. The discussion comes at a tense moment for President Joe Biden and Big Oil, as the president has spent the last few weeks bashing its CEOs for reaping huge profits from a fuel supply crunch exacerbated by Russia’s invasion of Ukraine.

DML: This is total BS.  The Biden administration doesn’t worry about elections, they have a cheating mechanism in place that appears iron clad.  If they cared about elections they’d start pumping production again.  The lefty nuts running DC want gas prices to skyrocket and stay there so that people beg for an alternative, and this means everything would be green.  The left wants big oil and gas to fail.  The left destroys everything.

4.US synchronized swimmer’s coach leaps into pool to save her life after she FAINTS in the water
DailyMail – American swimmer Anita Alvarez is lucky to be alive after she fainted while competing at the World Championships and had to be rescued by her coach in stunning scenes on Wednesday.

The synchronized swimmer, 25, was competing in the final of the women’s solo free event when she fell unconscious and sank to the bottom of the pool in Budapest.

Her coach Andrea Fuentes leapt into the water and dragged her back to safety with the help of a male lifeguard. Alvarez regained consciousness soon after being rescued from the pool, received immediate first aid and is reportedly recovering well.

DML: Heroic.

5.Illinois Democrats Fine Gas Stations That Don’t Post Misleading Signs
Washington Free Beacon – The Democrat-controlled Illinois legislature is requiring grocery stores and gas stations to post signs that give lawmakers credit for suspending the state’s annual gas-tax increase. In reality, lawmakers just put off the tax hike until after this year’s midterms.

The law forces grocery stores and gas stations to post signs that say the state has “suspended the inflation adjustment to the motor fuel tax through December 31, 2022″—one month after the midterm elections. “The price on this pump should reflect the suspension of the tax increase,” the signs conclude. The state will fine gas stations $500 per day for not posting the signage, the Center Square reported.
