News you need to see…

Today is June 17. Below are some of the stories grabbing headlines this morning. I hope you share this briefing as doing so will make you the smartest person in the room.

1 – Around 20 juvenile inmates break loose inside troubled facility during ‘uprising’
Fox News reports: Around 20 inmates at a Louisiana juvenile detention center broke loose in an “uprising” inside the perimeter of the facility Thursday night, prompting a SWAT response, the Jefferson Parish Sheriff’s Office told Fox News Digital.

One Office of Juvenile Justice employee and two juveniles were injured in the incident in which the inmates were able to take “control of areas inside the facility.”

“Around 9:48 pm, we received word that there was a disturbance inside the facility,” the sheriff’s department said. “Around 20 youths escaped their housing areas and took control of areas inside the facility. None were able to escape the grounds. Around 40-50 deputies from our Patrol Division and Crisis Management Unit (SWAT) responded and were able to secure the facility by about midnight. The youths were returned to the custody of the Office of Juvenile Justice (OJJ), the state agency that operates the facility.”

The three injured people were taken to the hospital in unknown condition.

The incident is only the latest breach at the troubled facility and comes just hours after five inmates escaped early Thursday morning through a hole in a bathroom ceiling – one of whom was still at large as of early Friday.

MY TAKE: Sad in so many ways.

2 – Laurence Tribe: Merrick Garland Will Criminally Charge Donald Trump
Breitbart reports: Thursday on CNN’s “Erin Burnett OutFront,” Harvard Law professor emeritus Laurence Tribe said that his former student Attorney General Merrick Garland would criminally charge former President Donald Trump.

Burnett asked, “From everything you have seen so far, including the hearing today that focused so much on Trump causing violence against Pence, do you believe the committee has proven that Trump himself knowingly committed crimes?”

Tribe said, “Without any doubt, beyond a reasonable doubt, beyond any doubt, and the crimes are obvious.”

Burnett said, “Do you believe, Professor Tribe, that Attorney General Merrick Garland will bring charges against Trump?”

Tribe said, “I do believe, though he’s doing it meticulously and not as quickly as some would like, that Merrick Garland will approve criminal charges against this president.”

MY TAKE: Oh, for Pete’s sake! They haven’t proved Trump committed ANY crime! But this is the kind of “news” people are hearing if they’re watching CNN.

3 – Biden was unhappy with Antony Blinken, Lloyd Austin for publicly saying US wants Ukraine to win
The New York Post reports: President Biden was reportedly unhappy with his secretaries of Defense and State earlier this year after they publicly stated the US wanted Ukraine to defeat Russia in its brutal invasion that had begun months before.

Biden expressed his disapproval in a conference call with Secretary of State Antony Blinken and Defense Secretary Lloyd Austin following the pair’s visit in April to Kyiv, multiple administration officials familiar with the conversation told NBC News.

During the trip, where they met with Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky, Austin told reporters, “Ukraine clearly believes that it can win, and so does everyone here.” Additionally, Austin said the US wants to see “Russia weakened to the degree that it can’t do the kinds of things that it has done in invading Ukraine.”

Austin’s firm comments appeared to be the first hard stance a top Biden administration official was taking in support of Russia’s defeat — yet to the president, it reportedly went too far.

As the two secretaries traveled home, they were conferenced into a call with Biden, who asked them to tone down the comments, multiple officials told NBC News.

“Biden was not happy when Blinken and Austin talked about winning in Ukraine,” one official said. “He was not happy with the rhetoric.”

MY TAKE:  Well, that’s odd. Biden himself is the one who said of Putin, “For God’s sake, this man cannot remain in power.”

4 – ON VIDEO: Drag Queen Bouncing Gargantuan Fake Boobs Around Pauses To Grab Dollar Bill From Young Child
The Daily Caller reports: A viral video shows a drag queen wearing giant fake breasts pause to take a dollar bill from a young child in Fort Lauderdale, Florida.

Libs of TikTok reposted the 19-second video Thursday showing a man in drag dancing around Hamburger Harry’s restaurant with large fake breasts. At the 4-second mark, the drag queen pauses to temporarily cover the fake breasts, and receive a dollar bill from a young girl seated on a woman’s lap who is also shown laughing during the exchange. The video shows the drag queen continuing to receive dollar bills from a few other nearby patrons as others look on.

This past month has seen an increasing number of incidents involving young children exposed to similar drag queen events.

MY TAKE: Disgusting! Just when you think it can’t get any worse, it does!

5 – Office workers beware! Sitting for more than eight hours a day makes you up to 50 per cent more likely to suffer a heart attack or stroke, study warns
The Daily Mail reports: Office workers are more prone to suffering heart attacks and strokes, another study has found.

For decades, doctors have warned about the dangers of a sedentary lifestyle and its impact on organs like our heart.

New research, which tracked 100,000 adults for over a decade, has prompted fresh calls for Britons stuck at their desks to get up and move.

Chinese experts found people who sit for eight hours a day — the equivalent of a 9-5 office employee skipping lunch — were 20 per cent more likely to suffer from a heart attack or stroke.

They were also 49 per cent more likely to have heart failure, compared to those who only sat for half that time.

MY TAKE: Time to get moving, folks!
