DML Morning Briefing July 18

By  Dennis Michael Lynch

Today is July 18. Below are some of the stories grabbing headlines this morning. I hope you share this briefing as doing so will make you the smartest person in the room.

1.Damning report, new footage show chaos of Uvalde response
(AP) — A damning report and hours of body camera footage further laid bare the chaotic response to a mass shooting at a Uvalde elementary school, where hundreds of law enforcement officers massed but then waited to confront the gunman even after a child trapped with the shooter called 911.

The findings of an investigative committee released Sunday were the first to criticize both state and federal law enforcement, and not just local authorities in the South Texas city for the bewildering inaction by heavily armed officers as a gunman fired inside two adjoining fourth-grade classrooms at Robb Elementary School, killing 19 students and two teachers.

Footage from city police officers’ body cameras made public hours later only further emphasized the failures — and fueled the anger and frustration of relatives of the victims.

“It’s disgusting. Disgusting,” said Michael Brown, whose 9-year-old son was in the school’s cafeteria on the day of the shooting and survived. “They’re cowards.”

DML: This group of police couldn’t be more pathetic, chicken, and downright stupid.

2.Jurors to decide if Parkland shooter Nikolas Cruz gets death penalty, life
NY POST – The trial against Nikolas Cruz, the admitted gunman in the 2018 school massacre in Parkland, Fla., kicks off Monday — and jurors will decide whether he’ll be given the death penalty or rot in prison instead.

The 12-person jury in Fort Lauderdale will not weigh whether Cruz is guilty in the case, since the mass shooter in October copped to killing 17 people at his former school, Marjory Stoneman Douglas HS, on Feb. 14, 2018.

Instead, the jury — which took nearly three months to select — will deliberate on if Cruz should be sentenced to capital punishment or life in prison without parole. Only one juror needs to oppose the death penalty for Cruz to receive the lesser sentence of life behind bars.

Cruz, 23, had made prior offers to plead guilty in exchange for avoiding the death penalty, but prosecutors rejected the proposed deals.

DML:Having worked with some of the Parkland parents, I hope they each get to pull the lever if this slime ball gets the death penalty. If he doesn’t get death sentenced, then I hope he shares a cell with a strange, ugly, mentally disturbed, sexually hungry 300-pound inmate.

3.Maryland GOP Senate candidate arrested for allegedly filing false child trafficking report

Fox News – A Republican running for U.S. Senate in Maryland was arrested Friday for allegedly filing a false report about a girl being trafficked at an adult book store, police said.

Ryan Dark White, also known as. Dr. Jon McGreevey, has been charged with making false statements to police after he told a law enforcement official in April that a man was forcing a young girl between the ages of 10 and 12 to participate in sexual acts with male customers, the Harford County Sheriff’s Office said in a press release.

White reported his claim as an employee of the bookstore, Fox 45 Baltimore reported. Detectives launched an investigation into White’s allegations. No reports of the incident were filed by witnesses at the store. Officials conducted interviews, gathered evidence and identified the adult and child allegedly involved.

Police interviewed White on July 7 before later concluding that his initial statement was false.

DML: Apparently this idiot made up the story to get traction and use it to further his own campaign, so says the report.  What an absolute bonehead move if true.  He looks like a real loser.

4.Mayor claims illegal immigrants crowding DC homeless shelters are asylum seekers ‘tricked’ onto buses
FoxNews – Washington D.C. Mayor Muriel Bowser appeared on CBS’ “Face the Nation” on Sunday to discuss the persistent homelessness problem plaguing her city.

Host Margaret Brennen brought up a Washington Post report that suggested homeless shelters are now being filled with illegal immigrants being bused in from Texas and Arizona.

Bowser admitted that it’s a “significant issue” and called on the federal government to get more involved as she fears illegal immigrants are being “tricked” into traveling to her city.

DML: Instead of buses to DC, send them on planes back to Latin America. Problem solved.

5.Biden’s economic approval rating falls to new low on fear about inflation

CNBC – President Joe Biden’s overall and economic approval numbers have reached the lowest levels of his presidency and fallen further than that of either of his two predecessors, according to the latest CNBC All-America Economic Survey.

With Americans feeling crushed beneath the weight of rising prices, Biden’s economic approval dropped 5 points from the prior survey in April to just 30%. The president’s economic record is supported by just 6% of Republicans, 25% of independents and 58% of Democrats, a very low number for his own party.

In comparison, President Donald Trump’s economic approval bottomed out at 41%, and President Barack Obama’s at 37%.

DML: I can just copy paste my daily response… The old man is a disaster, and any person who voted for him needs a visit to the doctor to have their head checked.
