DML Briefing June 14

By  Dennis Michael Lynch

Today is June 14. Below are some of the stories grabbing headlines this morning. I hope you share this briefing as doing so will make you the smartest person in the room.

1. World markets unstable as US markets tank
TOKYO (AP) — Global stocks drifted lower Tuesday in the wake of Wall Street’s tumble into a bear market, as investors anxiously contemplated a new and uncertain world of higher interest rates, international conflict and recession fears.

Shares traded down in Europe, erasing brief gains after the markets opened, while Asian shares fell but later recovered some gains.

The STOXX Europe 600 Index was off 0.5% after opening higher. France’s CAC 40 was off 1.33%, the DAX was down 0.55% and the FTSE fell 0.4%. In Asia, Shanghai advanced, while Hong Kong ended flat and Tokyo declined.

Tuesday’s market action follows downbeat headlines from Monday on Wall Street, where the benchmark S&P 500 lost 3.9%, taking it 21.8% below its peak. That meant a bear market, when an index has fallen 20% or more from a recent high for a sustained period of time.

DML: As long as Biden is driving the country, the world is going to be in decline on all ends.

2.Biden to visit Saudi Arabia, Israel, West Bank in July
The White House announced Tuesday that President Biden will embark on a Middle East trip in July that will see him visit Israel, the West Bank and Saudi Arabia.

The trip, scheduled for July 13-16, will include meetings with a number of world leaders for discussions on a host of issues including security, energy, climate issues, human rights and the growing threat of Iran.

“President Joseph R. Biden, Jr. will visit the Middle East region from July 13-16 to reinforce the United States’ iron-clad commitment to Israel’s security and prosperity and attend a Summit of the Gulf Cooperation Council plus Egypt, Iraq, and Jordan (known as the GCC+3),” White House press secretary Karine Jean-Pierre said in a statement. “He will also meet with counterparts from across the region, to advance U.S. security, economic, and diplomatic interests.”

DML: What a waste of jet fuel.  A meeting with Biden must be like going to a nursing home to visit a relative who can’t remember your name.

3.Beijing in ‘race against time’ to contain COVID surge
BEIJING, June 13 (Reuters) – Authorities in China’s capital Beijing raced on Monday to contain a COVID-19 outbreak traced to a 24-hour bar known for cheap liquor and big crowds, with millions facing mandatory testing and thousands under targeted lockdowns.

The outbreak of 228 cases linked to the Heaven Supermarket Bar, which had just reopened as restrictions in Beijing eased last week, highlights how hard it will be for China to make a success of its “zero COVID” policy as much of the rest of the world opts to learn how to live with the virus.

The re-emergence of infections is also raising new concerns about the outlook for the world’s second largest economy. China is only just shaking off a heavy blow from a long lockdown in Shanghai – its most populous city and commercial nerve centre – that also disrupted global supply chains.

DML: The good news for the people of the United States… I am running a BOGO today and tomorrow only for DML CBD Softgels.  Boost that immune system. But as for everyone else, we do not ship to communist China.

4.’He lied. He hit me’: Amber Heard REPEATS claim that Johnny Depp beat her
DAilymail – Amber Heard has publicly accused her ex-husband Johnny Depp of physical abuse again during an explosive TV interview, just days after she was found guilty of defaming the actor by claiming that he sexually assaulted her during their marriage.

The 36-year-old actress blasted Depp, 59, as a ‘liar’ and repeated her claims that he beat her during their marriage while speaking out about the ‘unfair’ verdict in the former couple’s $8 million defamation trial during an interview with the Today show’s Savannah Guthrie.

During the sit-down interview – which was pre-recorded on Thursday after the actress flew into New York on a private jet from Washington, D.C. – Heard also accused the jurors in the trial of being duped by her ex-husband, branding him as nothing more than a ‘fantastic actor’ who ‘convinced the world he had scissors for fingers’, in a bizarre reference to his performance as Edward Scissorhands in Tim Burton’s 1990 movie.

DML: Is this woman not an absolute train wreck? In my opinion she has an attention seeking disorder (if there is such a thing). I actually feel bad for her it’s so pathetic and I wonder if Depp doesn’t sue her again.

5.Border surge shows no signs of stopping
Twitter – Bill Melugin of Fox News posted an array of tweets Tuesday and Monday showcasing the massive surge that continues to unfold in Texas and the dangers it presents to Americans.  The number of migrants is overwhelming.  Tens upon tens of thousand of illegal aliens are coming over the border.
