DMLNews Morning Briefing Thurs. June 2

‘Uninformed’ Biden, kids’ school lunches at risk, a MAGA candidate, and more…

By Anneta Griffee

Below are some of the stories grabbing headlines this morning. I hope you share this briefing as doing so will make you the smartest person in the room.

1 – Biden admits he was late getting informed on seriousness of baby formula crisis
Fox News reports: President Biden said Wednesday that he was not aware of the severity of then-prospective nationwide infant formula shortages until April.

He told reporters that he was not briefed on possible shortages for about two months – even as company executives said Wednesday that they had known about the “general impact” the mid-February shutdown of Abbott Nutrition’s Michigan production plant would have on the U.S. supply immediately.

“They did, but I didn’t,” the president explained.

“Well, here’s the deal. I became aware of this problem some time in — after April — in early April, about how intense it was,” he continued. “And so, we did everything in our power from that point on, and that’s all I can tell you right now. And we’re going to continue to do it until we get the job done.”

MY TAKE: Magoo doesn’t have a clue what’s going on.

2 – Biden Administration Forces K-12 Gender Ideology Compliance with Lunch Money Threat
Breitbart reports: The Biden administration has tethered federal school lunch funding to compliance with gender identity ideology, including whether a school allows boys to use girls restrooms and locker rooms.

The move comes as the Biden administration is using heavy-handed measures to enshrine gender ideology into federal law.

Biden’s Department of Agriculture announced earlier this month that in order for schools to receive funds for student lunches, breakfasts, and other food items, it must comply with its interpretation of the ban on discrimination based on sex in Title IX of the Education Amendments of 1972 and other food-related programs, which includes sexual orientation and gender identity.

“USDA is committed to administering all its programs with equity and fairness, and serving those in need with the highest dignity,” Agriculture Secretary Tom Vilsack said in a press release. “A key step in advancing these principles is rooting out discrimination in any form – including discrimination based on sexual orientation and gender identity.”

MY TAKE: So Biden not only allowed a baby formula shortage, now he wants to hold kids’ lunches hostage! Parents, better start pushing back against this now!

3 – Pro-impeachment South Carolina Republican trails challenger by double digits
The Washington Examiner reports: South Carolina state Rep. Russell Fry has a double-digit lead on Rep. Tom Rice (R-SC) in one poll as the embattled incumbent campaigns to keep his Grand Strand to Pee Dee congressional district after voting to impeach President Donald Trump.

More than two-fifths (42%) of likely Republican primary voters would support Trump-endorsed Fry, a former South Carolina General Assembly majority chief whip, if the June 14 election were held today, according to a Trafalgar Group ballot test of the state’s 7th District published Wednesday.

A quarter backed Rice, a fifth-term lawmaker and former tax lawyer who voted to impeach Trump over the Jan. 6 Capitol riot, the poll found. Other candidates, Barbara Arthur and Ken Richardson, notched roughly 10% apiece. Another 7% were undecided.

The Trafalgar Group poll, based on 572 responses gathered from May 26-29, is similar to two recent internal Fry surveys. Research conducted by Fry last month found that 39% of respondents were for him, in comparison to 23% who remained loyal to Rice. Richardson earned less than 10% again, though many more (18%) were undecided. All the studies had a margin of error of 4 percentage points.

4 – Stacey Abrams on board of group giving millions to push CRT, prison abolition
Fox News reports: Stacey Abrams serves as a board member of a UPS family foundation that awards millions of dollars to professors and scholars who advocate anti-capitalist and prison abolitionist views, Fox News Digital has learned.

Abrams, who is taking another shot at running for Georgia governor, is currently listed as a board member at the Seattle-based Marguerite Casey Foundation, a private grant-making foundation named after Marguerite Casey, the sister of UPS founder Jim Casey.

The far-left foundation has repeatedly voiced support for defunding and abolishing the police.

Abrams, who has tried to distance herself from the hardline rhetoric of the #DefundThePolice movement in the past, has received at least $52,500 in income from the foundation, according to her financial disclosures.

Abrams’ campaign told Fox News Digital last week that Abrams, who joined the foundation’s board in May 2021, does not hold the same views as the foundation.

MY TAKE: Of COURSE she holds the same views – that’s why she supports them.

5 – NYC’s rat problem is out of control — and it’s not doing enough to stop it
The New York Post reports: The rats are scampering everywhere in NYC nowadays — and we’re not talking about FBI informants.

Since the start of 2022, the Big Apple has seen its worst infestation since 2010 — the first year that rat sighting records were made public online, the Associated Press reported.

From January to April, New Yorkers called in 7,400 rat sightings to 311, whereas an estimated 6,510 were spotted during the same period in 2021. The recent vermin report is up 60% from the first four months of 2019 as well.

Pat Marino, who leases Mayor Eric Adams’ approved Rat Traps, an innovative, filing cabinet-looking rodent death pool, even admitted to being outnumbered.

“We’re having an impact, we’re catching a lot of rats. But there are millions out there. I don’t want to be an alarmist, but there are a lot,” Marino told Gothamist.

MY TAKE: DemocRAT-led cities are literally turning into rat-infested sewers!
