DML Morning Briefing June 9

By  Dennis Michael Lynch

Today is June 9. Below are some of the stories grabbing headlines this morning. I hope you share this briefing as doing so will make you the smartest person in the room.

1. Jan. 6 Capitol attack committee goes prime time with probe
WASHINGTON (AP) — With never-seen video, new audio and a “mountain of evidence,” the House committee investigating the Jan. 6 attack on the U.S. Capitol will attempt to show not only the deadly violence that erupted that day but also the chilling backstory as the defeated president, Donald Trump, tried to overturn Joe Biden’s election victory.

Thursday’s prime-time hearing will open with eyewitness testimony from the first police officer pummeled in the mob riot and from a documentary filmmaker who recorded the melee, and it will feature the committee’s accounts from Trump’s aides and family members of the deadly siege that put U.S. democracy at risk.

“When you hear and understand the wide-reaching conspiracy and the effort to try to corrupt every lever and agency of government involved in this, you know, the hair on the back of your neck should stand up,” Rep. Elaine Luria, D-Va., a member of the 1/6 committee, said in an interview with The Associated Press.

The hearings begin at 8pm EST on most major networks, notwithstanding Fox News.

DML: I will be watching, and only for one reason.  Although I’ve said countless times that the rush into the Capital — which includes breaking windows, doors, and hitting police — was a disgusting display of chaos and stupidity taken from the BLM playbook, to have people remain in jail today is insane.  This is the Democrats trying to overturn an upcoming election by making people think that a bunch of rowdy people is more significant than $5 gas, war in Ukraine, open borders, unbridled crime, gender studies in kindergarten, and a lineup of other asinine policies that make America suck.  The effort will fall flat.

2.Mexican megachurch leader given nearly 17 years in U.S. prison for child sex abuse
LOS ANGELES, June 8 (Reuters) – The head of a Mexico-based evangelical megachurch that claims about 5 million followers worldwide was sentenced on Wednesday in a Los Angeles courtroom to 16 years and eight months in prison for sexually abusing three girls.

Naason Joaquin Garcia, leader and self-styled apostle of the Guadalajara-based church La Luz del Mundo (Light of the World), pleaded guilty last Friday to two counts of forcible oral copulation involving minors and performing a lewd act on a child.

Garcia, 53, entered his plea three days before he had been due to stand trial on 23 felony counts of sex crimes against children, including multiple charges of rape, conspiracy to engage in human trafficking and child pornography.

DML: This is no shock to me, Mexican heritage and culture showcases a long history of little kids being sexually abused.  It’s as regular a thing as jay-walking is in Manhattan.  Can’t pick your neighbors, and somehow we got stuck with Mexico.

3. Biden takes aim at Republicans, Trump during appearance on ‘Jimmy Kimmel Live!’
Fox News: President Joe Biden appeared on “Jimmy Kimmel Live!” for his first network interview in 118 days on Wednesday night.

The president kicked off his first in-person appearance on a late-night talk show by discussing gun control efforts with comedian and host Jimmy Kimmel. Biden wasted no time in taking aim at Republicans saying, “A lot of it is intimidation by the NRA. Look, this is not your father’s Republican Party. This is a MAGA party.”

Kimmel then expressed to the president how he thinks Democrats are frustrated because they won the House, Senate and White house and have made very little progress when it comes to guns, reproductive rights, voting rights and climate change, saying “in some ways we’ve moved backwards.”

Biden responded by claiming “we’ve actually made some real moves” when it comes to climate change. He cited efforts to push solar and wind energy, as well as electric vehicles.

DML: Two thoughts here. One, this TV appearance is no different than the upcoming Jan 6 hearings.  It was designed to divide the nation, and to make 74 million people look like domestic terrorists.  Two, if you want to know what kind a man you’re dealing with just look at the guy’s kids. Any guy who raises a kid like Hunter… well… you get the point.  Plus, the guy can’t walk up stairs without tripping.

4. House votes to pass sweeping gun control package
DailyMail – The House on Wednesday passed a package of gun control measures by a 223-204 vote in the first major policy response to the school shootings that killed 19 students and two teachers in Uvalde, Texas., with five Republicans joining Democrats to vote for the measure.

The handful of Republicans backing the measure were retiring Reps. Adam Kinzinger (Ill.) and Fred Upton (Mich.), Chris Jacobs (N.Y.), Anthony Gonzalez (Ohio), and Rep. Brian Fitzpatrick (Pa.).

But the measure was certain to run smack into a Senate filibuster. A bipartisan group of senators has been negotiating on the chamber’s own response to the shootings, with President Joe Biden keeping tabs on progress while maintaining distance after calling for a spate of gun control measures.

DML: Retiring Adam Cry Baby Kinzinger is clearly trying to implode before he leaves for a pathetic life fit for CNN.  Instead of trying to harden schools, the idiots continue to go after your guns and get nowhere.  So more kids will die, for sure.  I will be opening my podcast today with the video below.

5. House Democrats block bill to provide SCOTUS with extra security
Breitbart – House Democrats on Wednesday stalled a bill that would have provided additional security for Supreme Court Justices on the same day a man was arrested for attempting to murder Justice Brett Kavanaugh.

House Republican Leader Kevin McCarthy (R-CA) made a unanimous consent request on the House floor to bring up S. 4160 for a vote. S. 4160, which passed the Senate by a unanimous vote, would have allocated additional security for the justices’ family members.

Despite McCarthy’s request, Speaker Pelosi and the Democrats failed to comply with McCarthy’s proposal to bring the bill to vote.

DML: Why? Because Democrats love violence.
